I have autism and have experienced times when I have been on my own for prolonged periods with not many friends. I always wanted to, but wasn’t sure how to, which left my frustrated and sad at times. I wondered how others could be accepting of my difference.

This was the case for me in my mid-to-late teens. Later on, I began to wonder if my autism had something to do with it.

As I entered my twenties, when I went on social gatherings with people my age group, I gradually began to work out ways to form friendships with others.

I have written about this in a blog post titled ‘Ways those with autism can form and maintain friendships’.
